Carers

“I struggle with the feeling that my life isn’t mine”

Whether this role is new to you or a role you have been performing for many years being a carer for someone is a totally encompassing lifestyle. The above quote seemed a fitting one to describe the effects of the pressures of being a carer.

Losing a sense of who you are through the responsibilities you feel towards your loved one is an understandable and normal reaction to being a carer. The time, exhaustion and stress can make it feel impossible to find some time for yourself yet alone find a life of your own.

My experience is that through having an impartial person to talk to you have an opportunity to work through the thoughts and emotions you feel around your role. I offer an impartial, safe and non-judgemental space for you to work through these feelings in a way which suits you best. While I do not give you solution’s I believe each person has the ability to recognise their own needs and with counselling find their own ways of finding a life which they can call their own.

I understand that finding time away from your loved one can be challenging. I offer telephone and online counselling during this covid crisis but I am able to offer this on an ongoing basis if it is helpful to you.
